Pieous: Pizza, Pastrami, and Pie made with love

Pieous, a wonderful little restaurant serving amazing made-with-love food is opening on 290 West sometime later this week, and I highly recommend you check it out!
The restaurants is located at 12005 Highway 290 West towards Dripping Springs, about twenty five minutes from downtown Austin towards Dripping Springs. I recently met the owners, Josh and Paige, through various friends that we have in common, and have had the opportunity to check out their space and taste their food a couple times in the past few weeks.

The Classic American Road Trip

We enjoyed a great, old-fashioned day trip on a Saturday a couple weeks ago when our friend Jon took me, Adam, and Dana, our friend from D.C., in a spin in Hazel, his 1956 Chevy Bel Air.

Jon’s family owned Chevrolet dealerships in Lockhart for three generations, and about twenty years ago, someone traded Hazel in for a new car, and Jon asked his dad to save her for him. Franklin Barbecue

Franklin Barbecue is located just east of I-35 on E. 11 Street and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until they are sold out (lunch only). If you’re visiting from out of town and plan to go to Franklin, be prepared to wait in line.
Days: Tuesday – Sunday, CLOSED Mondays
Hrs: 11am – sold out (just open for lunch)

Aug. 21: Pie Love Fundraiser for SafePlace

There are some really fun food events coming up this weekend and next weekend that I want to make sure you know about. They each feature delicious food, entertainment, giving back to the community, and maybe best of all, AIR CONDITIONING. Yes, it’s been over 100 degrees for way too long here in Austin.
