You know what is totally gangsta?!  A group of women that go around tagging stuff….with knit items instead of spray paint. The group, called “Knitta, Please,” is based in Houston and was started by two members who go by the names AKrylik and PolyCotN.

At Jo’s during SXSW, they were serving coffee with a side of lady gangsta love. Apparently, owner Liz Lambert is friends with some of the Knittas and they decorated Jo’s on S. Congress as a surprise.

The lines at Jo’s are always super long…especially when a big event like SXSW is happening.

I’ve also seen Knit street art at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar. Have you seen knit tags around town or do you know any members of the Knitta, Please crew? Is there an Austin crew also? I love how the female underworld is making sure we stay warm and dry.
