A couple months ago on the KGSR morning show, Andy told me we were going to taste the best pizza in Austin. He said it was from his neighborhood sandwich shop, a place called Little Deli, and they had been serving pizza for the past couple months. I don’t recommend leaving the city of Austin in March or April. In my opinion, these are the best months to be here — both for the wonderful weather and the fabulous and fun events. I’m heading off to D.C. and NYC for ten days and am very sad to miss two events that are sure to feed the soul.

In the case of Wyatt McSpadden’s Texas BBQ, the answer is yes. This gorgeous coffee table book showcases work by one of the best photographers in the state documenting the steaming, dripping, juicy foodways of Central Texas.
The book itself is a piece of history and is filled with photos from McSpadden’s twenty years documenting barbecue around Austin. For me, it was like a walk down memory lane as I’ve enjoyed many of the same spots for authentic barbecue, prepared by pit masters that have been smoking meat for decades.
