Montesino Farm Tour and Barn Dance

I’ve always wanted to visit Montesino Farm in Wimberley, and this weekend had three great reasons to make the hour trek. One: You can rent it for events. Two: Slow Food Austin was hosting a tour of the farm. Three: There was a barn dance.
These are really nice farm apartments (with full kitchen) that you can rent for the weekend.

Under the Texan Sun

Today I experienced a little piece of the old country out in the Hill Country. I milked a goat by hand, walked among olive trees, and dined in a structure built over one hundred years ago.

Brunch in Wimberley at The Leaning Pear

One of my favorite weekend activities is to take road trips to all of the great small towns in the Hill Country. Today Adam and I joined the KGSR “Late Show” guys and their ladies for brunch at The Leaning Pear in Wimberley.

We were invited for a meal by the folks promoting the GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up, a statewide event Sept. 28-Oct. 2, where participating restaurants serve a special Texas menu. A portion of the proceeds may go to food …

Eat Local, Do Good, and Taste Austin

Labor Day marks the traditional end of summer and while the weather is still in the upper 90′s, calendars and inboxes are filling up with fun events around town.
Austin Restaurant Week kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 13-16 and the following week — Sept. 20-23. The event is a great opportunity to try fixed price meals at higher end eateries throughout the city from $25-$35. Five percent of the proceeds will go to the Sustainable Food Center and AIDS Services of Austin.
