Uchiko: The Review

Uchiko has been a major source of happiness in our lives over the past handful of months. In June, we received an invitation to try this “son of Uchi” during their pre-opening event where everything on the menu was half price. We went with fellow food lovers Laura and Mike and between the four of us, sampled almost half the menu.
Since opening in 2005, Tyson Cole’s Japanese-fusion Uchi has consistently been named the best restaurant in Austin. This cozy renovated home on South Lamar is known for its gorgeous atmosphere, impeccable presentation, high prices*, …

After a particularly upsetting sushi lunch experience yesterday, I woke up this morning wanting to know what you guys think is the best affordable sushi in Austin. I wrote about this topic last year but wanted to revisit since more spots have opened and hopefully more people feel comfortable leaving comments.

Tasty Tuesdays: Best Sushi in Austin

I’m a sucker for new food trailers and after hearing about Sushi-A-Go-Go on Twitter last week, I had to check it out. I drove from my office up to Manor Road where this new trailer was parked after being enticed by their daily Twitter special of $1 edamame and fresh tuna and yellowtail roll for $5.50. This spot is cash-only and I had $8 so I rounded out my purchase with a $0.50 house made Go-Go-Sauce and left the rest for tip.
Kayo Asazu is the owner of Sushi-A-Go-Go and she …

20 Bones off Dinner at Uchi

I’ve been blessed with some GOOD meals during SXSW and want to offer others the opportunity to enjoy one of Austin’s best eating experiences with a $20 gift card to Uchi.Skip down to the comments section and tell me what your favorite eating experience has been in Austin during SXSW along with your twitter handle. I’ll choose the best comments and get in touch with you to pass on the card (good today and tomorrow).
