Sugar for Breakfast

Olivia from Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop is one of my favorite small business owners in Austin. She is as sweet as the name of her shop, fun to be around, experimental with new technology, and baker of my office’s monthly birthday treats.
With her new breakfast hours and menu rolling out tomorrow, she offered to bring over some early morning treats for me and my colleagues late last week.

The lemon bundt cake was my favorite. Still warm from the oven, light and spongy, it was perfect with my morning black coffee.

Other favorites …

Olivia from Sugar Mama’s Brings the Sweets on KGSR

I’m so glad that Olivia, owner and baker over at Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop, got enough of her voice back to join us on KGSR this morning to tell us about the shop’s first birthday party this Saturday and give us a taste of her delicious new line of bars and mini pies debuting next week!

Toot Sweets for Your Sweet

The other day my colleague sent an e-mail around the office announcing that her boyfriend had surprised her with a large box of cupcakes. They were from Toot Sweet Cupcakes, one of the few local cupcake purveyors that I had not yet tried.
Toot Sweet’s cupcakes are gorgeous, topped with adorable tiny hearts, mini-Reese’s Pieces, and came in a large brown box with see-through cover and a thick ribbon wrapped around it.
The cakes themselves are small and I found them extremely dry even though they are filled with custard. I’m not …

I finally found a Sugar Mama!

I think I’m in love! I dropped by Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop today to pick up a 4-pack of their cupcakes — I’d read rave reviews on Yelp and the place has only been open for a week so I felt I owed it to my readers to check the place out
I picked up a Peanut Butter Cup(cake), Hummingbird, Black and Tan, and Hula to go.
Translation: PB & Chocolate, Pineapple/Banana/Pecan/Cream Cheese Frosting, Guinness Stout cupcake with Irish Cream Cheese Frosting, Coconut cupcake with cream frosting and toasted coconut.
I couldn’t …
