The Brunch Obsession Continues

Clearly I’m on a brunch kick. Adam and I met a group of friends old (Ilyse, Jessica) and new (Matt, The Ice Cream Man and James of The Eaten Path) at Enoteca Vespaio for Sunday brunch after SXSW.
There were nine of us and we were attempting to get a table on South Congress Avenue during the busiest time of year. This was my idea and I can’t explain the temporary insanity that made me think this would work. The strategy: leave our name at South Congress Café, Enoteca, and Woodland …

Dudes Love Taco Trucks

The other night I had the unique pleasure of joining Mando from Taco Journalism, David the Soup Peddler, Logan from Boots in the Oven, Food Touring guest blogger Tom, Food Touring muse Adam, and Mando’s adorable wife Ixchel for a South Austin taco tour.

Austin’s Soup Peddler on Cassoulet

The cassoulet came about because some hunters David knows were emptying their freezers and he offered to create a mouth-watering final resting place for their Louisiana …

Austin Urban Farm Bicycle Tour

My tush hurts today after spending most of Saturday biking around the city during the Austin Urban Farm Bicycle Tour. The tour kicked off Eat Local Week, a series of events sponsored by Edible Austin, a gorgeous free monthly publication.
Christine and I started the day off shivering as the temperature had dipped below freezing during the night. We bundled up as much as we could and set off to enjoy breakfast tacos and coffee at Whole Foods.
We then met up for the 14 mile bike ride starting at Bicycle Sport …

Babies are Delicious

Last night I had the pleasure of babysitting for seven-month-old Mia Ansel, daughter of David and Meredith. I headed over there at about 6:30 p.m. (after picking up the keys to my new apartment — I’m moving today!) to get instructions on how to care for a baby.
I did have an idea of how to change a diaper but I wanted to make sure to learn their routine so that Mia would feel comfortable. After the orientation, they sweetly asked if I had eaten dinner (I hadn’t).
For those who don’t …
