Under the Texan Sun

Today I experienced a little piece of the old country out in the Hill Country. I milked a goat by hand, walked among olive trees, and dined in a structure built over one hundred years ago.
If you are part of the Tasty Touring Facebook group, you received an invitation to join the Hill Country Food and Farms tour sent out to all group members. If you are a member of the Facebook fan page, you might have seen the invite through your news feed.

Tasty Tuesday: Best Office Lunch Caterer

If you work downtown like me, you might have the option once in a while to order in lunch for the office. I love those days since budget and distance can be less of an encumbrance than it would be if I was just going out to grab something quick and cheap.

At my company, our old standbys have tended to be Austin Java or Do Good Deli. What we loved about Do Good Deli is that they offered tasty, locally-sourced lunches and 100% of the proceeds went to Caritas. Sadly, …

La Traviata is a perfect spot to meet clients, go on a date, or grab a quick bite before a show at the Paramount or Long Center.
Speaking of lunch, I try to conserve dollars and calories by bringing a salad with lots of stuff in it to the office from home. …

Blue Dahlia – A little gem!

Fellow food blogger and colleague Lindsay arranged for a group of us to have lunch yesterday at Blue Dahlia — a restaurant on East 11th Street that is part of the cities restoration effort of the area. Thanks to friend and Food Touring reader Lisa for suggesting we go there!
The menu included lots of salads and sandwiches and the setting was really beautiful — both the wooded indoor space and the nice outside patio where we had lunch. Lindsay and I split the chicken salad sandwich with pine nuts and …
