Sometimes, when people visit Austin for the weekend, or for events like SXSW, they decide not to rent a car if they are staying downtown. Downtown Austin used to be sort of a ghost town as far as great restaurants went, with a few sprinkled here and there, but not enough to sustain even a weekend visitor very easily. Eat Local, Do Good, and Taste Austin

Labor Day marks the traditional end of summer and while the weather is still in the upper 90′s, calendars and inboxes are filling up with fun events around town.
Austin Restaurant Week kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 13-16 and the following week — Sept. 20-23. The event is a great opportunity to try fixed price meals at higher end eateries throughout the city from $25-$35. Five percent of the proceeds will go to the Sustainable Food Center and AIDS Services of Austin.

What is Your Favorite Burger in Austin?

This Friday, I’ll be joining the KGSR Late Show guys to discuss the hamburger trend in Austin. It seems that new burger joints are popping up daily in Austin and there was recently a story comparing some of them in the Austin American Statesman.
