Adam and I recently went to San Antonio for a little one night getaway — well, not exactly recently — it was last Christmas Eve to be exact. It was my first time staying in San Antonio overnight and it’s been on my “to blog” list ever since. We stayed at the Liz Lambert owned Hotel Havana which was originally built in 1914 and opened in 2010 as a boutique, dog friendly hotel.

We enjoyed a great, old-fashioned day trip on a Saturday a couple weeks ago when our friend Jon took me, Adam, and Dana, our friend from D.C., in a spin in Hazel, his 1956 Chevy Bel Air.
Jon’s family owned Chevrolet dealerships in Lockhart for three generations, and about twenty years ago, someone traded Hazel in for a new car, and Jon asked his dad to save her for him. This is the first in a series of posts I’ll write about a road trip I just took from Austin to New Mexico and back. All in all, I drove a total of 2,400 miles in ten days of travel that took me from Austin –> Junction –> Marfa –> Marathon –> Roswell –> Santa Fe –> Albuquerque –> Santa Fe –> Truth or Consequences –> Hatch –> White Sands National Monument –> Marathon –> Marfa –> Austin.
