Last night, I had the pleasure of being invited to a tasting at the Noble Pig. Visiting the Noble Pig has been high on my list to visit since it opened last fall. But as my friends can tell you, I rarely venture outside of the twenty minute driving radius from my house. Since Noble Pig is about thirty minutes from home, it just didn’t happen until last night’s food blogger event.
And let me tell you, Noble Pig is totally worth the trek!

Tarka Indian Kitchen felt like a fast casual chain which surprised me when I checked it out because there is only one location. It’s owned by the Clay Pit people and is a fast-casual version of that restaurant with cozy chairs and an appealing atmosphere but without the special dining experience feel.
After enjoying a fantastic tasting meal in a comfortable and relaxed environment, I found myself not minding the idea at all of finding a Tarka in mini-malls across the land.

I was very excited to learn that Snack Bar on South Congress is officially open after months of construction, waiting, and two soft openings — one during SXSW in March and one during Austin City Limits Music Festival in early October.
I called and was told that they will be open for the next week during breakfast, lunch, and for afternoon snacktime — closing at 4 p.m. I believe their hours will stretch much later once they have a chance to hire more staff and get in the groove.

If you work downtown like me, you might have the option once in a while to order in lunch for the office. I love those days since budget and distance can be less of an encumbrance than it would be if I was just going out to grab something quick and cheap.
