The Beautiful Food of Berkeley

I’m in Berkeley this weekend visiting my cousin and her family for Passover. It’s my first time in Berkeley since I was a teenager and I wasn’t sure it would live up to my expectations of awesome local food. On the first morning, it totally did. Local Food Gifts from Austin – SXSW

If you are an out-of-towner visiting Austin during SXSW, you might be thinking –DAMN the food here is good and I want to take some back home to my loved ones. Start Your Day at the Counter Cafe

The Counter Cafe is the kind of place that makes you feel like a regular the first time you walk through the door.
I was craving real eggs the other day. The kind that come from local hens and were picked within 24 hours from their warm nest.
Don’t you agree that these types of eggs should have a different name than the one you buy in the cold section at the grocery store? The yolks are vibrant, the taste is more flavorful, and the cooked eggs are fluffy and light.

A Locavore Weekend

I’m trying to eat healthier lately so you might see more fruits and veggies appear in the blog. This weekend, I ate lots of great local food. It started off with dinner at Eastside Cafe with Katie — we split Crabmeat-Stuffed Shrimp — 4 jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab meat, bell peppers, and garlic and served over fresh spinach. We had mashed sweet potatoes and veggie soup on the side.
