Jen Strickland, co-owner of Home Slice Pizza joined us today on KGSR to chat about the staff’s recent pizza research trip to New York City, their blog, share some Home Slice goodies with us (like pizza, calzone, salad, garlic knots, and a rice krispies treat).
We also talked about their new patio bar with ping-pong table, upcoming expansion into the building next-door, Carnival of Pizza coming up on Dec. 5, and Seth Mazow’s “Year of the Pizza.”

Today on the show we had the pleasure of sipping on champagne with the beverage director of Uchi. June Rodil was named Texas’ Best Sommelier at the Texas Sommelier Conference last month. She outperformed 20 of her peers from across the state in a grueling three-part examination involving theory, service for Master Sommeliers, and a blind tasting.

Labor Day marks the traditional end of summer and while the weather is still in the upper 90’s, calendars and inboxes are filling up with fun events around town.
Austin Restaurant Week kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 13-16 and the following week — Sept. 20-23.
