I enjoyed the Venison Chili Frito Pie from Ranch 616 (served in a frito pie snack bag!) at the Austin Film Festival’s Film & Food Fundraising event last week and it was my favorite dish of the night. So tasty!

You know what is totally gangsta?!  A group of women that go around tagging stuff….with knit items instead of spray paint. The group, called “Knitta, Please,” is based in Houston and was started by two members who go by the names AKrylik and PolyCotN.

At Jo’s during SXSW, they were serving coffee with a side of lady gangsta love. Apparently, owner Liz Lambert is friends with some of the Knittas and they decorated Jo’s on S. Congress as a surprise.

This Friday, I’ll be joining the KGSR Late Show guys to discuss the hamburger trend in Austin. It seems that new burger joints are popping up daily in Austin and there was recently a story comparing some of them in the Austin American Statesman.
