I’m pleased to introduce you to Lenny H., who submitted the post below on Cupid’s Hot Dogs via an e-mail to his son (and my boyfriend), Adam, who forwarded it on to me. After last week’s KGSR radio show and blog post on Frank, a fancy hot dog restaurant and bar in downtown Austin, both Lenny and Adam’s cousin Evan wanted to spread the Cupid’s gospel. This morning was truly a sausage fest on the KGSR “Late Show” for a visit with the chef and owners of Frank, purveyors of artisan sausage in downtown Austin. I arrived and walked in to the kitchen only to see the kitchen table transformed into a prep line where Matt (the chef) and Geoff and Daniel (the owners) were preparing fresh hot dogs.

Yesterday I met Steve at Ben’s Chili Bowl in D.C. This U Street institution celebrated their 50th Anniversary in August. I knew I couldn’t show my face back in Austin without visiting Ben’s on this trip. Now that I’m a “food blogger” there are certain expectations I must uphold.
