I’ve always wanted to visit Montesino Farm in Wimberley, and this weekend had three great reasons to make the hour trek. One: You can rent it for events. Two: Slow Food Austin was hosting a tour of the farm. Three: There was a barn dance.

Adam and I are checking out Green Gate Farms CSA this month — splitting a full share with our friends Laura and Mike. CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture,” and basically is a way to connect consumers and farmers directly — cutting out the middle man and ensuring food is eaten at its peak. I think the best part so far is the new recipe experimenting. We picked up our loot last Saturday from our new friend Adelea and she passed along some great recipes. I made my own version …

I generally try not to mix business with pleasure on this blog, and most of my business doesn’t happen in Austin. It generally takes place on an hour-long conference callĀ with clients in other time zones, via e-mail chains, and at occasional out-of-town meetings.
