Dallas’ The Pearl Cup

I think of Dallas as a chain restaurant kind of town. My firm has an office downtown and like many business districts, the only coffee shops around are places like Starbucks.
On a recent business trip, I asked my cab driver to stop off at The Pearl Cup, a newish coffee shop in Dallas off Henderson Avenue, opened by two women who moved to Dallas a few years back from Austin.

Austin: Home of Coffee Delivered by Scooter

When my friend Jen mentioned “the coffee guy” in Hyde Park who delivers coffee that he has roasted in his garage by scooter, I knew I had to try it. I love how this guy does his marketing. He showed up in Jen’s backyard offering freshly brewed coffee one day and she’s been ordering ever since.

Cuvee Coffee Roasting Company

About one month ago, Mike and Rashelle McKim opened their backyard to about a dozen tasty tourers for a visit to their roasting facility in Spicewood.
You have probably tried Cuvee beans if you’ve ordered a cuppa Joe at Caffe Medici, Houndstooth, Once Over, or Thunderbird.
McKim included lots of interesting information for geeks and trivia nerds alike. His beans come from Central and South America and he purchases one year’s worth during the annual harvest. He told us that most countries harvest once a year except for Colombia.

Tasty Tuesdays: Best Patio Dining in Austin

There are lots of places to eat outside and enjoy the beautiful spring weather in Austin this time of year. About a month ago, I stopped in to Once Over Coffee Bar on S. 1st to meet Dan from Thrillist Austin for a chat before work and some much-needed joe.
