My Juice Fast Results

Lots of folks have been asking me questions about the juice fast I did a few weeks ago. Here are the most FAQs:
Q: Did you go the full ten days?
A: I drank only juice for nine days and decided I’d had enough. My first non-juice meal was a glass of red wine and veggie sushi with some friends. I tried to be careful about what I ate for the first 24-hours just in case my stomach was more sensitive than usual, but didn’t have any issues.
Q: Did you lose weight? …

The Chocolate Cleanse

A couple weeks ago, Adam’s parents sent him two babkas — one was cinnamon, the other chocolate. The brand is Green’s Babka and while these kosher sweet loaves are made in Brooklyn, they are available right here in Austin at the HEB off of Far West in the kosher section.
Adam’s favorite was the chocolate — rich, dense, and very chocolately, it was yummy. For me, you can’t beat the cinnamon. As most things do, this reminded me of an episode of Seinfeld:

Thank goodness Adam knows his way around a saute pan because he’s been making really delicious, healthy, and cleanse-friendly dinners. I’ve been shopping for the ingredients and helping with prep and clean up.
Last night we enjoyed sauteed salmon with an orange sauce …

Cleanse – The first 24 hours

The first full day of the cleanse is coming to a close. Over the past 24 hours, I have successfully avoided caffeine, alcohol, sweeteners, and white flour.
Last night, Adam made me a wonderful meal of fish tacos with fresh spinach, pico de gallo, black beans, and homemade chipotle sauce. Everything was cleanse-friendly except for the chipotle sauce and maybe the whole wheat tortillas but overall it was a flavorful, extremely healthy meal.
The fish was a tilapia that was sauteed in a bit of olive oil and flavored with salt, pepper, …
