This past weekend, Adam and I visited his grandmother Sylvia in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One of the things I loved most about the trip was hearing more about Adam’s family history — and eating at places that Sylvia had loved for years. This included Goldie’s Patio (1961) and Braum’s Ice Cream (1968). We also visited Hideaway (1957), a childhood favorite of Apron Adventures‘ Lindsay.

A couple weeks ago, my friend and sometime guest blogger Betsy invited Adam and I to join some Whole Foods Market employees for a yoga and chocolate class on the plaza above the flagship store.
Combining two of my favorite things – yoga and chocolate – sounded like heaven to me. Betsy read about David Romanelli, a yoga teacher that started offering classes combining yoga and food, in a New York Times article. She was inspired and asked him if he would come to Austin and teach a class.

I was honored when a writer for the Daily Texan, the student newspaper for the University of Texas, contacted me for a story they were doing on local food bloggers. I generally try not to mix business with pleasure on this blog, and most of my business doesn’t happen in Austin. It generally takes place on an hour-long conference call with clients in other time zones, via e-mail chains, and at occasional out-of-town meetings.

I was thrilled to receive an invite to Christian and Jamie of Austin Food Journal’s house for one of their now-legendary pizza parties. My friend Carla from Austin Urban Gardens reintroduced us at a food blogger event and apparently pressured them into it. We are forever grateful.
