Fit Suite at Downtown Austin’s Omni Hotel

A couple weeks ago, Adam and I had the opportunity to stay in a hotel in our own city, something I always enjoy. You get all the benefits of a vacation without the stress and hassle of getting in a car or on a plane.
Austin’s downtown Omni Hotel recently invested millions of dollars  in a reconstruction and created “Get Fit” that include a workout nook stocked with a treadmill, yoga mats, P90X videos, medicine balls and bands.
I love that they targeted people who love to eat — food bloggers — in …

Amsterdam: Rijstaffel and Bols Museum

My last post about the Whole Foods Foodie Fantasy contest trip that we took was last November, but I’m determined to finish these up before the one year anniversary of our trip so that I have them to share with others going to Europe.
Before we hit Bruges, or Brugge, Belgium, we were in Amsterdam so obviously these posts aren’t in chronological order.

Celebrating Christmas at the Driskill Hotel

I love hanging out at the Driskill hotel any time of year — the cowhide covered couches, taxidermy on the walls, delicious meals, and fun bar atmosphere make this a fun place to bring out-of-towners and go on a date.
But to me, the best time to visit the Driskill is during the Christmas season. And this Thursday night, the Driskill is kicking off their “12 Days of Driskill” holiday, as well as their 125th year celebration with what sounds like a fantastic event.
This Thursday, Dec. 1, the Driskill will be …

Weekend Getaway to Lakeway Resort and Spa

Thanks to a gift certificate provided to me by the marketing team at the Lakeway Resort and Spa, I was able to treat two of my girlfriends to an overnight getaway on a recent Saturday night. The resort is about 40 minutes from downtown Austin, but when you’re there, you feel like you’re really on vacation.
When we arrived, the folks at the front desk invited us to head down to the Back Porch for a complimentary happy hour of wine or beer. We felt like we won the lottery, especially …
