New Restaurants in Austin

Those making their annual pilgrimage to Austin for SXSW this week may be interested to know what’s new in the Austin food scene since last year. The focus of this post is on brick and mortar restaurants; A Mike’s Life covered new food trailers since last year. For more ideas on where to eat in and near Austin, spend some time checking out the Austin Food Blogger Alliance’s Austin City Guide.
This post isn’t meant to be a comprehensive guide to every new restaurant that has opened over the past year, but it is …

Snap Kitchen: My Results

I’ve now been off the Snap Kitchen 21-day Snap Commit program for a little over a week, and I miss those prepared meals! I’ve definitely noticed the difference in how I felt when I was on the program — energized! optimistic! — with the way I feel now (sluggish) and I miss having my own personal chef to make sure I’m putting the right things in my system.

And everything we ordered was inexpensive, huge, delicious, and made with what tasted like high quality …

Joe’s Place and Connie’s Beer Garden – An East Austin Gem

One of the categories of the Austin Chronicle‘s Best of Austin reader’s poll last month was Austin’s Best-Kept Secret. My vote? Connie’s Beer Garden on Friday and Saturday nights.
I happened to drive by Joe’s Place and Connie’s Beer Garden one day, and noticed their sign boasting about their great reviews on Yelp and Urban Spoon. By the way, the name is kind of confusing, but I believe the business is called Joe’s Place, and Connie’s Beer Garden is how the husband-and-wife owners refer to the outdoor space.

There are a lot …
