AT&T Center Amuses the Palette

Today was the first opportunity for local media to tour the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center. As the media contact for AT&T in Austin, I was lucky enough to join them. The photo at left shows AT&T wireless executive Chris Penrose during an interview with the local NBC affiliate in the 300-seat amphitheatre. AT&T provided cutting edge technology including AT&T U-verse TV and complimentary WiFi throughout the facility as part of their commitment to the University.
We were all pleased to end the tour in the beautiful Carillon restaurant, one …

Olivia’s for Meat Lovers, And I was Surprised

Longtime readers of my blog (mind you — I began blogging in July) may remember a field trip I took to Lockhart with some friends to taste-test the BBQ. Recently I’ve cut back dramatically on the amount of meat in my diet — mostly for ecological and health reasons.

Last Sunday, Ilyse came over to check out my new digs. We were both starving — me from unpacking …

A Locavore Weekend

I’m trying to eat healthier lately so you might see more fruits and veggies appear in the blog. This weekend, I ate lots of great local food. It started off with dinner at Eastside Cafe with Katie — we split Crabmeat-Stuffed Shrimp — 4 jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab meat, bell peppers, and garlic and served over fresh spinach. We had mashed sweet potatoes and veggie soup on the side.

On Saturday, I headed down to the Sunset Valley Farmer’s Market to pick up some fresh local veggies. It seemed …

Wine with Good Friends

Last night, Rachel, Jessica, Ilyse, Melissa (pictured) and I spent the evening at a new wine bar called Uncorked to celebrate Rachel, who is officially moving to the Washington, D.C. area after about five months of world travel. It was surreal actually saying goodbye to her because aside from her being my best friend, she has been my family here in Austin — introducing me to her circle of friends when I moved here 5 years ago, including me in potluck Shabbat dinners, Chanukah parties, and countless outings and events. …
