Skim Latte for Me

I live in the best neighborhood in the best city in the country. Ok, I’m biased.
Anyway, Clarksville really has it all – green space, great architecture, bars, restaurants, a grocery store, location, and great people. I’m lucky to have found an apartment I can afford to rent in such a desirable neighborhood. Clarksville is one of the areas in Austin where it is very apparent that we live in a “blue oasis in a red state.” Obama signs abound.
We also have the greatest coffee shop in all of Austin – …

American as Pizza Pie

For many years, when you went out to dinner in Austin you had one choice to make – BBQ or Tex-mex. When I moved to Austin five years ago from New York City, the food that I missed the most was the pizza. Koriente Restaurant and Tea House

Koriente is one of my favorite spots in Austin — great for a quick, healthy and delicious downtown lunch or dinner before a concert on Red River. It’s owned by a great family who have infused their personalities into the menu and the quirky ambience of the place.

It opened in 2004 and I became completely evangelical about the place — telling everyone I knew to go there and order the garden handroll with veggies that taste like they are fresh from the garden, and a deeply satisfying and comforting beef …

Late Night Bite at Parkside

Austin’s late night dining scene has a classy new addition with parkside, a bar/restaurant with upstairs patio location on 6th and San Jacinto.

I’ve been there twice in the past two weeks — once when Monica and I had 20 minutes to grab dinner in between two Austin Film Festival screenings, and last night. Brandon and I went to an amazing Ray LaMontagne concert at the Paramount Theatre and were starving when it ended at 10:30 p.m. We felt like French food so we headed over to Chez Nous but it …
