Introducing Guest Blogger Laura Stromberg

I met Laura Stromberg a couple years ago when I was looking for a marketing co-chair for the Austin Jewish Book Fair. While we got to know each other while preparing for that event, our friendship has grown over the past few years. We spent more time together last year through a young leadership program sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League.

Since I started my blog this summer, Laura has been one of the most consistent and interesting commenters and I’ve been asking her to submit a guest blog for a while …

We were hungry at the end of the evening but we hadn’t spent any money on New Year’s fun yet and we wanted to prove to ourselves that we could have a great night without opening our wallets. So we found ourselves at home at 1:30 a.m. with a semi-empty …

I’m not the most adventurous person when …

As American as Apple Pie

It’s been a wonderful week spending time with family and old friends this Thanksgiving. Last year, both Rachel and I stayed in Austin and while it was great to be together — it was more than a little sad eating Thanksgiving dinner at Threadgills.
This year, the Feldman’s invited us to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with their large extended family. The table was decorated beautifully and Eileen made an absolutely delicious meal. There was not one thing I tried that I didn’t like.
Mom was in charge of dessert and brought a cornucopia …

Jeffrey’s Love Letter to the Sandwich

Editor’s Note: This is a guest post from my younger brother. He lives in New York and runs operations for a brand of women’s shoes called Miz Mooz.

I can’t recall a time in my life when I didn’t love a good sandwich. As a toddler I had a fickle palate and to this day my cousin Cary reminds me how I would tote along a freshly made peanut butter sandwich to our local Chinese restaurant. When my family would chow down on Lo Mein and Kung Pao, I would …
