Taste of ACL on KGSR with Chefs from Hudson’s and Torchy’s

If you are like most ACL-goers, you’ll be eating about six meals at Austin City Limits. According to the FAQ, you are not allowed to bring your own food into the park. However, you can bring an empty Nalgene bottle or a couple of factory-sealed water-bottles to refill throughout the weekend.
Today, I had the opportunity to meet some of the chefs participating in the AWESOME Austin City Limits Food Court. If you have been to ACL before, you know that I’m not kidding. The food is generally great!

Statesman: Apple Pie with Cheddar Cheese Crust

I was honored and surprised to receive a call from Addie Broyles yesterday asking a fact checking question about my adapted recipe for apple pie with cheese crust from a blog I wrote last fall. She told me that there was a question about the amount of sugar in the filling — and she was right. I had left out a 1/2 of a cup!
It was fun to open up the paper today and see the story in print.

Pitching Food Bloggers: My Point of View

As a public relations professional and a food blogger, I’m in a unique position to give feedback on public relations efforts targeting food bloggers.
While I’ve been thinking about this topic for a while, reading Food Mayhem’s thoughtful post on the subject really inspired me.
Overall, I think it’s great that blogs are being recognized as influential by restaurants and companies. Bloggers generally have loyal readers who trust their opinion and count on them for reviews, opinions, and insight. Companies are and should be building these relationships and getting their relevant products …

Potomac Gazette: Local Girl Moves to the Heart of Texas and Eats It

The Internet is an amazing thing. A couple weeks ago I received an e-mail from Erin Donahue, writer for the Potomac Gazette. She had found my post on the Churchill Class of ’96 through her Google news search for “Churchill High” and wanted to write a story about us. We had a lovely chat on the phone.

Sipping champagne on KGSR with June Rodil, Uchi’s Beverage Director

Today on the show we had the pleasure of sipping on champagne with the beverage director of Uchi. June Rodil was named Texas’ Best Sommelier at the Texas Sommelier Conference last month. She outperformed 20 of her peers from across the state in a grueling three-part examination involving theory, service for Master Sommeliers, and a blind  tasting.
