On Equality and Absinthe

Today, I read an amazing article in the New York Times starring Brandon and his boyfriend, Benn. The article details how Brandon and Benn decided to move to London together (Benn is British) after Benn was unable to renew his work visa. The article poignantly shows — through interviews with Brandon and Benn, a photo slideshow, and audio, the painful experience of leaving your country, line of work, family, and closest friends in order to stay with the person they love.

Austin Food Blogger Favorites and City Guide

I’m so excited to share the Austin Food Blogger Alliance’s 2012 Austin City Guide and the first-ever Austin Food Blogger Favorites.

The City Guide includes over 65 blog posts written by 45 members of the Austin Food Blogger Alliance, covering a wide variety of topics. This includes what’s new, ethnic eats, eating mindfully, special occasions, beverages, food-related activities, and restaurants by location.
The Austin Food Blogger Favorites includes over 40 categories, with about half of the over 100 members participating in the survey.

Jewish Outlook: Moses Falafel Kosher Trailer to Open in January

Austin’s first kosher food trailer — Moses Falafel — will be opening to the public this Sunday, Jan. 8 on the campus of the Dell Jewish Community Center off Far West Boulevard.
If you dig Israeli food, or are vegetarian or vegan, this is something that likely has you squealing for joy right about now! And to top it off, follow Moses Falafel on Facebook and print out a buy one, get one free coupon to use this Sunday.

Austin Monthly Food Issue – On Stands Now

Just a note to let you know that Austin Monthly‘s special food issue is on-stands now. The goodies inside are not posted online so you’ll need to stop by at your local Book People or grocery store to pick it up!
I was honored to be included on this panel of sources for the story, including Chef David Holtzman, who teaches culinary arts at the Art Institute of Austin, Cathy Cochran-Lewis, Senior Program Leader, Global Marketing at Whole Foods Market, and Erin McReynolds of the Fearless Critic Restaurant Guides.
