Blenders and Bowls at Wanderlust LIVE
Blenders and Bowls is a cute little acai cafe located inside of Wanderlust LIVE in downtown Austin. The owners invited me to check out an acai bowl a couple days before they opened. Wanderlust LIVE is a new yoga and music studio located on E. 4th and Brazos.
There is metered parking in front, and free parking in the evenings and all weekend on San Jacinto between 4th and 5th Street. During weekdays there is parking in the Convention Center garage at 2nd and Brazos for $1 (up to two hours).
The cafe is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.On my visit, I spoke with Kara Jordan, co-owner of Blenders and Bowls. Kara grew up surfing in Santa Barbara, and lived in Hawaii for five years, where acai bowls were popular in the surfing community.
Kara moved to Austin with Erin, her business partner, and they opened Blenders and Bowls as a food truck in 2011. The owners of the Wanderlust studio, Ashley and Joe, first tasted the acai bowls at the Gypsy Picnic, and asked Kara and Erin if they would be interested in opening a cafe in the space. The rest, is history.
I ordered a “Chill Berry,” made with organic frozen acai, fresh fruit, hemp granola, and Round Rock Honey. Kara told me they are happy to split bowls in two, and that would be the perfect size for a small snack with a friend. It was delicious.
At Wanderlust the 1st yoga class is free for locals, and they also offer a free class on your birthday. Otherwise, classes are between $14 and $18 for a drop in class, and less per class based on purchasing classes in packages or unlimited monthly memberships.
For the rest of the evening (Saturday night and into the early morning hours of Sunday), however, Google Offers has a deal for one month of unlimited yoga for $49.Tags: acai, blenders and bowls, wanderlust, yoga
