I’m often asked about my favorite food trucks, or those I most recommend in town since there are so many. Here is a list of trucks that are either my favorites, or those that I know many other people enjoy.

Blenders and Bowls is a cute little acai cafe located inside of Wanderlust LIVE in downtown Austin. The owners invited me to check out an acai bowl a couple days before they opened. Wanderlust LIVE is a new yoga and music studio located on E. 4th and Brazos.
There is metered parking in front, and free parking in the evenings and all weekend on San Jacinto between 4th and 5th Street. During weekdays there is parking in the Convention Center garage at 2nd and Brazos for $1 (up to two hours).

Franklin Barbecue is located just east of I-35 on E. 11 Street and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until they are sold out (lunch only). If you’re visiting from out of town and plan to go to Franklin, be prepared to wait in line.
Days: Tuesday – Sunday, CLOSED Mondays
Hrs: 11am – sold out (just open for lunch)

It’s getting hot in Austin, and when it gets hot, one of my favorite places to be is in a nice, cold, movie theatre. One of my favorites is the Violet Crown Cinema, on 2nd between San Antonio and Guadalupe.
All seats at Violet Crown are reserved, and can be purchased either online or at the theatre. Tickets are $13, and include a specific reserved seat that you choose yourself along with four hours of free parking at the garage located on San Antonio between 2nd and 3rd Streets.

It’s summer movie season, and today I want to highlight two of the newer movie theatres in town. First up is the new Alamo Drafthouse on Slaughter Lane.
The Alamo Drafthouse locations on South Lamar, the Ritz (downtown) and Slaughter Lane now offer the option of reserved seating. At Slaughter, each auditorium has about 20 reserved seats available in a specific section at a $2 upcharge. This is a great option for folks who don’t want to get in line or arrive an hour or more before showtime.
