Your Mom’s Burgers are so Good….
I remember the day I ate at Your Mom’s Burger Bar in East Austin. My colleague and friend Stacy and I drove over to the E. Cesar Chavez and Chalmers burger joint for a quick lunch. It was the Friday before Mother’s Day and it seemed like an appropriate place to eat.
I asked if they had something special for Stacy since she’s a mother and it was Mother’s Day weekend after all. I do think they mentioned they give a little something to folks who come to Your Mom’s with their mother but I can’t remember what that was. However, they do offer complimentary fries (and they are fresh and hand cut!) on your first visit!
I ordered the John D. Rockefeller burger after much self-negotiation between that and the Frida Kahlo. I ended up very happy with my selection of 1/2 lb. burger stuffed with pepper jack cheese, topped with spinach, artichoke, tomato, pepper jack cheese, parmesan cheese, and good fellas sauce. The thing was huge and I loved the cheese stuffed inside of the burger as well as on top.
You can get an idea of the enjoyment I felt while eating this two hander by peeking over this guy’s shoulder. I love the real coke in a glass bottle that he enjoyed with his burger and fries too. That’s some classy stuff.
Check out Your Mom’s Burgers and maybe even bring your mom with you. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. If you come on your bike, you save 10%. There’s a kids menu too. Personally, I recommend splitting an order with a friend. These bad boys are huge and too delicious to not finish so next time, I’d definitely find a willing eating partner to split it in half with.
