Tasty Tuesdays: Best Brunch Food Trailers

13 July 2010 588 views View Comments

Today’s Tasty Tuesdays question should be a lot easier than last week when I asked you to name your favorite Austin Food Trailers to visit at 8 a.m. One of the funnier responses was from Michelle of Foodie is the New Forty, who wrote, “At 8:00 a.m., whatever food trailer happens to be in my dreams would be my favorite!”

This week, I’d love to know what your favorite food trailer is at 11 a.m. — either during the week or on the weekend — and why.

11 am

I’m thinking weekends in my head right now (although weekdays are fair game too) and the one that came up right away was Flip Happy Crepes for their amazing sweet and savory offerings. Another easy choice is Franklin Barbecue, especially because they sell out so early. My third pick is to sit under a tree at Lulu b’s to share a spring roll and enjoy a fresh banh mi. Finally, I have to add Patika, a wonderful coffee trailer on second and Congress (weekdays only) that serves amazing coffee and pastries from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

What are your 11 a.m. food trailer faves?

These posts are making me realize how behind I am on my trailer travels. So many trailers to try! Wow, that was a lot of "tr" words.

I'm going to have to go with La Boite for 11:00. Their almond croissants are so divine, and I could pick up some macarons for dessert later in the day.

P.S. Thanks for the sweet shout out!

Flip Happy! Crepes = brunch, no?
  • Unfortunately LuLu b's doesn't open till 11:30 am so I'll have to go with Izzoz Tacos. That way you can do breakfast or lunch!

Thanks for letting me know about Lulu B's. Their Myspace site actually says 11 - 4 p.m. but I often drive by and they are closed so maybe they keep whatever hours are most doable for them on that day ;-)

I'm gonna have to agree with you on Flip Happy - definitely can't think of a better place. But for a place close by me - Good Bike at West Campus has a great Jamaican Jerk Chicken wrap and their iced Cuban coffee makes an awesome early lunch

Good Bike is also on the "must try" list. Thank you!
  • My pick would be Counter Culture- They have great food and serve gluten-free brunches sometimes!
  • jodibart
Nice! Do they have a mailing list about their brunches? What do you recommend?
  • If it is Sunday Brunch definitely Counter Culture on North Loop, actually CC is probably my favorite any time. If I am at work then TaKorea, I love their tostadas. If I am south than I have to agree with you on LuLu b's, they would also be under "trailer I wish was open 24/7"

I STILL need to try Counter Culture. Would you recommend more for lunch or dinner? What should I order?
  • Old post, but I'd chime in and say CC is better suited for lunch. At least the chickpea "tuna" sandwich I had. It was delicious, but more lunch-y, lending itself nicely to brunch. However, if I remember, they're open noon-8pm, so it would be a late "brunch".

    Thanks for the suggestion, Mike!
