Tasty Tuesdays: Austin’s Best, Oldest, Restaurants

This past weekend, Adam and I visited his grandmother Sylvia in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One of the things I loved most about the trip was hearing more about Adam’s family history — and eating at places that Sylvia had loved for years. This included Goldie’s Patio (1961) and Braum’s Ice Cream (1968). We also visited Hideaway (1957), a childhood favorite of Apron Adventures‘ Lindsay.
All of that vintage eating activity made me think about restaurants in Austin that have stood the test of time. The ones that popped into my head include Scholz Garden …

Tasty Tuesdays: Best Austin Grocery Store

Austin is kind of a grocery store mecca. Just consider that:

Whole Foods Market started in Austin almost 30 years ago — and is home to the corporate headquarters and flagship store.
Central Market opened it’s first store here — on North Lamar in 1994.
Wheatsville Co-op is the only retail consumer food co-op in Texas and its right here in Austin!

Tasty Tuesdays: Best Margarita in Austin

This Tasty Tuesday’s is an important summertime topic for Austin. Where do you think the best margarita is served in town? Also, how do you like your margarita — what type of tequila, on the rocks or frozen, salt or no salt?
David of the Tipsy Texan opened my eyes to the mixes that are often used in your cheaper margarita and I now try to make sure I’m drinking margaritas made with freshly squeezed lime juice. However, I’m still not really sure which of my favorite places use a mix …

I’m sorry for the non-edible Spam.

Over the past week or so, my blog has been attacked with Spam messages — over 50 each night — to greet me when I wake up the next morning. While this has been very stressful for me, I’ve learned that because some of my readers have asked to be notified about follow up comments to posts, they are seeing lots of these as well.

I just wanted to write to say that I’m sorry for this inconvenience. Please know that I’m now going to be approving each and every comment …
