Tasty Tuesdays: Best Patio Dining in Austin

There are lots of places to eat outside and enjoy the beautiful spring weather in Austin this time of year. About a month ago, I stopped in to Once Over Coffee Bar on S. 1st to meet Dan from Thrillist Austin for a chat before work and some much-needed joe.

I stepped outside before he arrived and checked out this unexpected and peaceful patio overlooking Bouldin Creek (which is flowing nicely thanks to all the rain we’ve gotten this year)

    I love the Hula Hut's Patio, although the food is ok. Margaritas are better. Phara's Middle Eastern Rest. @ Northloop has a nice, big, friendly patio, and good food.

    The patio at Roaring Fork Stonelake has a beautiful view, always breezy on Quarry Lake - hard to believe you're in the city! Also dig Blue Dhalia.

    Athenian grill's patio downtown is great, as is Karibu on East 7th.

    My pick isnt "fancy" but a great patio and pretty good bar food: Docs on Congress.
  • I love Grove Wine Bar on Bee Caves---it's covered by an amazing tree and the food is so great! It's nice to getaway from downtown sometimes, and this is a fabulous place to do it!

    Also, El Arbol's patio is my new favorite on 35th! It is also covered by and built around a big tree (thus, the name!)

    Back patio at Blue Dahlia makes me feel like I'm the guest at a casual, dreamy dinner party and Hula Hut's lakeside patio makes me feel like I'm a 20-year old on spring break. But my all-time favorite Austin patio is at Hotel San Jose, preferably poolside.
  • Love Thyme & Dough in Dripping Springs. A shady corner at La Condesa is awesome too.
  • Perla's, Blue Dahlia & Ginger Man. Even though Perla's is right on the street, it matches the other two w the feeling of being set away from the rest of the world.
  • Triumph Cafe has one of my favorite patios. Lots of trees and a nice little fountain in the center. I recently discovered El Arbol's patio and it's a gem. It reminds me of the pictures I've seen of Panama back in the 60's and 70's.
  • Blue Dahlia, Snack Bar, Bouldin Creek, Shady Grove, and Vivo are my favorite patios. I love dining on the patio, it totally dictates where I go.
  • My two favorites are Paggi House, where the bar menu is terrific and the setting is perfect, and Blue Dahlia, which always feels a world away.

    So many patios, so little time! (Before it's so blazing hot and humid that patios turn into saunas, that is.) So I LOVE Paggi House, Perla's and Blue Dahlia (the front and especially the back patio are GREAT.

    Sago Modern Mexican at the Triangle has a great patio! (Full disclosure: I used to be the host there). They have a great happy hour 7 days a week from 2-7pm with great prices on drinks and apps. They are also dog friendly!

    I love the patio (deck?) at Mozart's. Their coffee is terrible and the desserts are never as good as they look behind the case, but I go here again and again just to sit at that patio and stare out over the water.

    I'm partial to the patio at Mandola's at the Triangle. Not the nicest patio in town, but I love that it is dog-friendly and that we can walk there from our house, so we all get some exercise, too!
