A quick post about how much I love East Side Showroom, a place I love in spite of myself. Why didn’t I want to like it? Mostly, because of it’s popularity with the hipsters, higher prices, long waits, and smoky interior (due to ventilation issues in the kitchen that may now be resolved).

I rolled up to Jimmy John’s on the first floor of my building — searching for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for a late lunch. They don’t have pb&j, but what they do have is this guy:
His name is Alex and he better not get fired for his awesomeness. You see, the guys (usually they are dudes) that work there also deliver sandwiches to nearby businesses and residents that order. My boyfriend loves some Louisiana eats. So does my friend and Mississippi native, Betsy. Her husband, David, a recently reformed vegetarian, is pretty happy eating just about anything. When Betsy and David invited us to road trip down to New Orleans for Jazz Fest this year, I knew there would be some delicious meals ahead.

There are lots of places to eat outside and enjoy the beautiful spring weather in Austin this time of year. About a month ago, I stopped in to Once Over Coffee Bar on S. 1st to meet Dan from Thrillist Austin for a chat before work and some much-needed joe.

A couple weeks ago, my friend and sometime guest blogger Betsy invited Adam and I to join some Whole Foods Market employees for a yoga and chocolate class on the plaza above the flagship store.
Combining two of my favorite things – yoga and chocolate – sounded like heaven to me. Betsy read about David Romanelli, a yoga teacher that started offering classes combining yoga and food, in a New York Times article. She was inspired and asked him if he would come to Austin and teach a class.
