Bananarchy: Revolutionary Desserts?

The folks from the bananarchy trailer invited me to try out their frozen bananas covered in various toppings. I visited one night for dessert with Adam and Emily of Wild and Crazy Pearl. Emily lives in D.C. and had never been to a food trailer so we visited two food trailers that night.

Bananarchy offers fair trade bananas – ½ bananas for $2.75 or more, and whole bananas for $3.75 and up. They’re frozen and then dipped in sauces – chocolate, peanut butter or vanilla – and covered with one or two of about ten topping choices.

Emily got a halfsie with chocolate, peanut butter, and nuts. I got a whole banana dipped in chocolate, nuts, toffee, and Reece’s Pieces (yes – I fully took advantage of the fact that it was on the house). I can’t remember what Adam got but I’m sure it was covered with chocolate, peanut butter, and crushed chocolate chip cookies.

Adam describes the experience as “a combination of decadent, silly, and humorous. It was a little over-the-top with the chocolate chip cookies on it,” said Adam.

My thoughts – it would be the most awkward place to go with someone on a date. And, it was hilarious. As for the frozen banana with chocolate? For me I think it might have been a once in a  lifetime experience.

Ummm, I actually HAVE been on a first date to Banarchy. Although there was no love connection, it was a great place to meet up on a hot, hot day!

I love that place! We almost went there last night after dinner. The whole banana is a much better deal and perfect for sharing with someone you're, um, comfortable with :)
