Taste of ACL on KGSR with Chefs from Hudson’s and Torchy’s

If you are like most ACL-goers, you’ll be eating about six meals at Austin City Limits. According to the FAQ, you are not allowed to bring your own food into the park. However, you can bring an empty Nalgene bottle or a couple of factory-sealed water-bottles to refill throughout the weekend.

IMG_0383Today, I had the opportunity to meet some of the chefs participating in the AWESOME Austin City Limits Food Court. If you have been to ACL before, you know that I’m not kidding. The food is generally great!

Jeff Blank from Hudson’s on the Bend manages all of the food vendors on-site and he told me that they will be ready with enough chicken cones to feed the masses. Last year I was able to get a chicken cone each day but I went early and by dinnertime they were sold out. Lets see how it goes this year with the addition of their Purple Pig Cone (pictured above).

The vendors at ACL are all local and feature some pretty fancy schmancy food for $1 – $8. The key is here is portability…as Blank says, “the food in one hand and a beer in another.”

New vendors to check out at this year’s festival include Louie’s 106 who are bringing various pasta salads, Torchy’s Damn Good Tacos (I tried a Trailer park chicken taco last week and it was darn good), The Belmont with a pressed cuban sandwich, steak and cheese sandwich, and jalapeno cheese tots, and Plucker’s with chicken wings, chicken tenders, fried pickles, and fried twinkies!
