Olivia from Sugar Mama’s Brings the Sweets on KGSR
I’m so glad that Olivia, owner and baker over at Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop, got enough of her voice back to join us on KGSR this morning to tell us about the shop’s first birthday party this Saturday and give us a taste of her delicious new line of bars and mini pies debuting next week!
The party is from 3 – 7 p.m. on Saturday at the shop, located at the corner of Mary and S. 1st, and will include live music, food, drinks, and a pie eating contest.
The bakeshop is still looking for contestants to compete in the pie-eating battle, which is based on speed and not volume. The entry fee is $10 and the winner receives a gift bag with $250 worth of gift cards from local merchants.
We also had a chance to sample some Celeste’s Best cupcakes to prove to Andy that vegan baked goods can be delicious. He admitted to enjoying the carrot cake and Bryan really liked the lemon. To find out where to pick up Celeste’s Best around town, click here.
It was a day of sweets upon sweets and the sweeties over at Cornucopia brought over samples of some of their most popular flavors along with two huge bags of regular popcorn for the Emmis break room. While baked goods and cupcakes might not seem to have a lot in common, Cornucopia is also having a 1st anniversary party on Saturday. It’s at their located on Guadalupe across from Dobie Mall and is from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. so head on over after the Sugar Mama’s bash! Guests will enjoy sangria cocktails, free popcorn samples, and a live performance from a Spanish guitarist.
