A couple weeks ago, I met Laura, co-creator of Dishola, at the Taste No Evil Muffin Company — the crazy trolley set up outside of Maria’s Taco Xpress on South Lamar. Having been reading recently reading about the history of food carts in Austin Texas, I was interested to learn that Maria, and her neighbor, Matt of Matt’s El Rancho, each began with a cart before saving up enough to open their own restaurants.

Today was a hot topic – we talked about the best burgers in the ATX on the morning show. Everyone has strong topics on burgers no matter what kind they favor. And then there are the vegetarians and non-beef eaters throwing their two cents in as well!
I’ve learned over the past few weeks that there are so many great burger options in our city and it might be time to branch out from some of my standbys and try something new!

This Friday, I’ll be joining the KGSR Late Show guys to discuss the hamburger trend in Austin. It seems that new burger joints are popping up daily in Austin and there was recently a story comparing some of them in the Austin American Statesman.
To be perfectly honest, I don’t eat hamburgers very often. I’ve tried TerraBurger on the drag, and of course Huts and Casino el Camino. My favorite burger in Austin is the Big Ass Burger at Roaring Fork. It’s the perfect size to split with a friend …

Yesterday morning I talked Austin food with Andy and Bryan on KGSR’s Late Show. Those guys are so fun to chat with and it was great to go back for my second radio interview. A couple weeks ago, I brought miracle berries so they could experience a food trip. Next Friday, I’ll be on again at 8:30 a.m. CT, talking about all of these new burger joints around town.

It didn’t occur to me to check the weather this morning. If I had, I’m told I would have known that it would be pouring for most of the day. Thankfully, I’m not the only one that puts their faith in the mostly sunny days of Austin. When Adam and I unloaded our bikes, pumped up the tires, and arrived at Porfirio’s Tacos in East Austin this morning at 11, there were at least 30 people already there — eating, hanging out, and ready to tour!
