Pomegranate Juice Wonderfulness

The folks at POM Wonderful found my blog and offered to send me a case of their pomegranate juice to try. Normally, I’m not much a juice drinker. I learned a while ago that when drinking my calories, I prefer them to come in the form of wine.

The case arrived yesterday, just in time for our staff meeting, so I decided to share with others to see what they thought. Some reactions:

The Chocolate Cleanse

A couple weeks ago, Adam’s parents sent him two babkas — one was cinnamon, the other chocolate. The brand is Green’s Babka and while these kosher sweet loaves are made in Brooklyn, they are available right here in Austin at the HEB off of Far West in the kosher section.
Adam’s favorite was the chocolate — rich, dense, and very chocolately, it was yummy. For me, you can’t beat the cinnamon. As most things do, this reminded me of an episode of Seinfeld:

There will probably soon be a line out the door at Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop on S. 1st and Oltorf…to celebrate their half birthday (183 days old) they are giving away one baked good per person to the first 183 customers. After that, everything is half off for the rest of the day until they run out (hours are 12-8 but guaranteed they will run out early). Sugar Mama’s are my favorite cupcakes in town but as I’m still on my cleanse, you’ll have to eat one on my behalf.
