HAAM Benefit Day Kicks Off at Whole Foods

Lucy and I woke up at 5:45 this morning to walk down to Whole Foods to see The Dime Store Poets, one of my favorite Austin bands perform. I think I might have been the only fan crazy enough to get up that early but Lucy and I were in the mood for adventure.

I grabbed a coffee (Whole Foods is donating 5% of their proceeds today to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians) and went outside to hang out. I asked the band if they could play one of my favorite songs, “If Jesus Wants” — it’s about rolling marijuana cigarettes for a regular dude who happens to be named Jesus. Seemed an appropriate request by a Jewish girl living in Texas during High Holiday time.

Lucy was in heaven and was wagging her tail and greeting everyone who came by. She even howled along with the music once! I’ve never heard her do that before. Too cute.

I was talking to one of the cashiers as I was leaving and she offered to give me a sample of an awesome drinkable yogurt they sell. It’s from Lucky Layla Farms and I grabbed a blueberry.

Tonight I’m going back to see Carolyn Wonderland after work. There’s tons of live music going on today to benefit healthcare for Austin musicians. For a complete listing, go to HAAM’s website.

I don't know. It still sounds kind of Chernobyl-ly to me.

The drinkable yogurt was tasty -- it had whole blueberries in it for a fun surprise. However, with 7 grams of fat, I would expect it to keep me full for longer. It's only 10:30 a.m. and my stomach is growling. That doesn't happen when I have my usual breakfast of soy milk, cereal and fruit!

I'm all about the HAAM project. I think it's a great thing and good for Austin!

As for the drinkable yogurt... really? That doesn't sound natural.
