Eat Cheap in Austin

In these tough economic times, we are lucky to live in a city like Austin where there is lots to do without spending outrageous sums of money. Forbes magazine just ranked Austin #1 in terms of residents getting the best value for their money.

I’m always looking for ways to save and wanted to share this great link from Katie S. that lists out 1/2 price appetizers and other restaurant deals across the city. It even separates them out by day of the week so that you can plan the best happy hour with colleagues and friends for a specific night!

It’s called Frugal Feaster. What do you think of the list? Are there any great deals missing? If so, add a comment so we can share the wealth!

Our family is a HUGE fan of Manuel’s 1/2 price appetizers every day of the week. It was better when it went until 7, but we are usually able to slip in before the 6 pm cutoff. ‘Rita’s for the ‘rents, quesadillas for the for the kids. Everyone’s happy!

Brilliant! Thanks, you fabulous foodie you! My personal fave is the Big Ass Burger at Roaring Fork, which is ginormous, delicious and only like $5 during HH!

Austin Monthly’s Feb. issue recommends the croque monsieur at Aquarelle — they have a half-price wine bar app special every tuesday through saturday from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. $5 full price, $2.50 half price.
