interviewToday was the first opportunity for local media to tour the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center. As the media contact for AT&T in Austin, I was lucky enough to join them. The photo at left shows AT&T wireless executive Chris Penrose during an interview with the local NBC affiliate in the 300-seat amphitheatre. AT&T provided cutting edge technology including AT&T U-verse TV and complimentary WiFi throughout the facility as part of their commitment to the University.Carillon

We were all pleased to end the tour in the beautiful Carillon restaurant, one of four separate dining establishments in the facility (one of those is the Tejas Dining Room and is only open to conference attendees). Overseeing all of the great food served at the AT&T Center is Josh Watkins, an old friend of mine and former executive chef of the Driskill Grill.

Josh served us a mouth-watering array of amuse bouche — something that every guest at the Carillon will enjoy before their meal when they visit this high-end restaurant. At left is anIMG_4163 oxtail rillette (spoon to the left); spinach, prosciutto and goat cheese tart; wonderful mini crab cakes with avocado mousse; and coriander crusted ahi tuna with orange and herb aioli. I’ll look forward to going back for dinner one day — or lunch if I’m lucky enough to be invited by a UT faculty member.
